Like many things learning is something “relational”.
This means both that learning is easier within groups and that learning improves group knowledge more than the sum of single learners.
Teams also tend to develop a “sense” that makes them reinforce their actions and so they do for learning.
This cross fertilization is even stronger if made between different teams, though could be difficult to be started.
Improving relations between teams either in your organization or external, lead to an exchange of knowledge, experiences and values.
Having people work together help those individuals reaching a broadening of mind and acquire an exponential knowledge increase.
