Resumes tips
Writing a resume can be a quite easy job.
Writing an appealing resume is a hard task, especially because is your one shot penalty to get noticed.
So here are some tips to help you:
- Take your time: writing a resume is not a grocery listing. So take your time to prepare it, and make the result go for a continuous improvement
- Watch around: if you can have access to resumes of people working on your same area, take your time, again, to study them and get the best in terms of words, formatting, experience and layout
- Give space where needed: Resumes don’t need to be neither long neither short, just the right size. So feel free to emphasize your differentiating points and don’t “add” just to make it longer.
- Simple is the key. Keep it simple enough to be easy to read and complex enough to draw a good picture
- Watch for IT: have your resume ready in different formats to avoid problems with attachments
- Positive is the approach: come on, you are selling yourself…be sure to underline your best qualities, since they have time (and chance) to find your weaknesses
- First impression counts: use a short cover letter to introduce yourself
- Check for spelling and grammar: do I need to spend more time on this
- Use a professional email: use an email address with name.surname format
