There is a typical way to standardize the change into a process, though is not so easy to find a unique way to manage change.
- Prepare the road for change: is important to define and make feel which is your burning platform to make change something felt as needed
- Define where you want to go and depict the destination to others
- Manage the path (through a team for example) to determine the speed and pace.
- Follow a plan
- Communicate well and in a customized way for different groups
- Change together with others
- Go forward step by step through little and recognizable goals
- Never give up and maintain the speed
- Consolidate the changes achieved
Of course, the process gets more complex as you increase the number of changes to be managed.
Despite everything, change is a complex situation to handle and has lot of pitfalls embedded on the way.
There’s an old motto that says that if you will is to change almost everything, at the end you won’t change nothing.
This is not an invite not to make big changes, but is a simple reminder that you make change happen a step a time.
